More Troubling News

Noticed 2 homes for sale that we've been watching are now for rent as well as for sale. These are large historic homes for rent. It's so bizarre watching the market fall apart. It feels like the world is falling apart. Meanwhile I just read something on some message board about always offering 20% below asking or don't put in an offer unless the owner is upside down on their mortgage. It's like lions feasting on their prey but the rich just laugh and laugh like it's the most normal and natural thing to take away someone's livelihood. Oh, to be unaware.

I received a certified letter from our home equity line saying we had 10 days to pay $2600 or they would begin foreclosure on our house. I should have known this was coming but we've talked to them a couple times about the situation and they never even mentioned foreclosure. I wanted Brian to call them and see if we can have that figure reduced to $500 or $1000 along with maybe a copy of our contract (that should be finalized soon) so they know we have a contract (though with an impossible sale contingency). There's no way I can come up with $2600. I don't know how I'm going to pull $500 or $1000 since I just unexpectedly paid $500 for the short term loan so they wouldn't take our car. Meanwhile I have to buy Christmas presents for people. Our family knows we "need" to sell our properties but they don't know how bad it is and we don't want them to know so I have to come up with presents so it's not obvious.

I re-put the yellow house on craigslist for rental, dropping the price to $700. I hate to get too optimistic but it looks like this may happen before Christmas. That certainly wouldn't hurt.
